How we handle personal information when families use SENDadvisor to find SEND-friendly places, services, schools and council support.

SENDadvisor is a directory and resource hub for families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across England. For privacy questions, email privacy@sendadvisor.co.uk.
We are the controller for personal information collected through SENDadvisor. This means we decide why and how that information is used.
SENDadvisor is designed for parents, carers and professionals. We do not need detailed medical records, diagnoses, dates of birth, school reports or identifying information about a child to provide the directory.
Please do not include unnecessary personal, medical or identifying details about a child in reviews, public contributions or listing submissions. If you choose to share SEND, disability or health-related information with us, we will treat it as sensitive information and use it only for the purpose you provided it for, such as responding to your message, moderating a contribution or publishing a review you asked us to publish.
If you are under 18, please use SENDadvisor with a parent, carer or trusted adult and do not share personal details about yourself or another child.

These providers process information for us only where needed to provide their services. Some providers may process information outside the UK; where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections.
Reviews, listing suggestions and public directory information may be visible to other users. We may edit, reject, remove or anonymise contributions if they include unnecessary personal information, identify a child, create a safeguarding concern or do not meet our moderation standards.
If we list public contact details for an organisation or professional role and they are inaccurate or should not be shown, email privacy@sendadvisor.co.uk and we will review the listing. For ordinary listing corrections, email submissions@sendadvisor.co.uk.
Account information is kept while your account is active and then deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed. Cookie choices and saved location preferences are kept for up to 12 months unless you remove them sooner. Analytics is collected only with consent and is retained only for the period configured in our analytics service. Security logs are kept only for as long as needed to protect the service, investigate issues and meet legal obligations. Support messages and listing requests are kept for as long as needed to deal with the request and maintain an accurate audit trail.
You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by emailing privacy@sendadvisor.co.uk. Published reviews may be anonymised where removing the whole text would make community information harder to understand.
You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your personal data. You can also object to processing in some circumstances and withdraw consent where we rely on consent.
