has come about due to personal and professional experience over the past 10 years as a Teaching Assistant and Parent with 2 children with SEN. This website is for families and professionals to have a respectful and safe place to come together and reflect. This website offers a platform to support that. SHARE YOUR TRUTH
Share your experiences and perspectives, as well as view others opinions, all on our Send Safe Space Platform (SSPP)
WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
We as a collective are caught in a place were SEND cuts and lack of Specialist services, Diagnostic services and Send Training are impacting on Children, Young People, Families, Practitioners & Professionals working across all sectors. The Send Advisor’s Send Safe Place Platform offers families, practitioners & professionals a safe place to highlight the issues that are affecting them. (This can be done anonymously) however it is crucial as a collective that we also champion positive practice by recommending / rate a school / service / individuals to highlight what is working within the Send community.
This website offers a platform to support that.

HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE THIS?
- By highlighting barriers for Children, Young People
Parents / Carer’s, Practitioners & Professional perspective.
- By sharing good practice.
- By recommending / rate services/schools to model good practice.
WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED BY DOING THIS?
- The Send Safe Place Platform will help measure in one safe place good practice.
- Common themes should begin to emerge regarding common barriers.
- Sharing each others perspectives to promote shared understanding.
- To provide OFSTED with a balanced view regarding barriers, good practice from children, young people, families, practitioners & professionals across all sectors in SEND
- For the UK government to look at how services are implemented across all sectors including schools and the impact on children, young people and all professionals delivering these services. To change legislation to encourage transparency and accountability.
OFSTED is responsible for inspecting a range of educational settings including state schools and some independent schools, specialist provision and mainstream. By law it must inspect schools with the aim of providing information to parents to promote improvement and to hold schools to account. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ofsted)
Here at Sendadvisor.co.uk we believe that it is crucial to champion others positive practice by recommending and sharing good practice, my first recommendation will be for:
Unravel’s founder, Andrea Chatton established the Unravel approach based on nearly thirty years’ experience of working with children and young people in emotional distress. The bridge between educational and child psychologists. Andrea has used her wealth of experience and expertise to train and build a team committed to driving positive change for children and young people. She recognised that there is a service missing and Unravel has been rapidly embraced by schools, parents and support services in desperate need for intervention during challenging times. The Unravel team are recognised as experts in this specialised area which sits between the work of Educational and Child Psychologists. They are currently campaigning for this model to be recognised like other protected psychological areas with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Andrea is author of ‘The Blinks’, a series of books which were created to help children, young people, and their families understand and manage emotional and behavioural issues. She is also the BBC’s on-hand expert to call upon when ‘hot topics’ arise in the news and which may affect the well-being of children and young people
